Wilkinson ECC Mission

Wilkinson Early Childhood Center is a community of children, parents, staff, and Maryville University faculty and students dedicated to preparing autonomous citizens for a democratic society. Education is a process through which learners try to make sense of the universe. This constructivist process involves social, ethical, cognitive, symbolic, and physical growth and development. Children construct knowledge by building relationship between people, objects, and events. Staff collaborates to structure and open, caring and stimulating environment. In this environment, children make choices and develop positive dispositions towards active learning through themes, projects, and centers. Staff develops and share expertise through participation in Wilkinson Early Childhood Center-Maryville Professional Development School Partnership. Working together staff, parents, and children create a community of life-long learners.

Wilkinson PTO Mission and Members

The PTO of Wilkinson Early Childhood Center consider ourselves partners with principal, teachers and staff as we assist them in "their mission of preparing autonomous citizens for a democratic society." The parent community generously supports the school through an active PTO. Included amount the countless volunteer efforts are extensive media center and classroom volunteer programs. Curriculum related special events, such as our math and science nights and history/geography fairs, are run by our Parent Support Specialist and parents are important supplements to the instructional program. This active group of parents always welcome new and innovative parents.
